Summer is coming! Those three words fill the average person with equal amounts of joy and fear. Joy; because it’s a time to build memories with friends and loved ones on the beach, on the lake or on a well- planned vacation. Fear, because most people know how little they have done to ensure that their bodies look right while building those memories. Tis the season when people flood the gyms, renew their fitness vows that were made at the beginning of the year and try their best to eat right so their bodies can look tight for the summer. We all know that there are gyms and fitness centers by the dozens in most communities. However, gyms with a staff dedicated completely to your health, your personal journey and your overall mental, physical and spiritual well-being are much more of a rare find.
Enkore Fitness LLC is one of those rare gems that fit the bill. The husband and wife team behind this movement have crafted a unique space for anyone
interested in becoming a better version of themselves; whether they be a seasoned athlete or a recovering couch potato. About eight years ago, co- founder Jerico Wiggins had the idea to create a fitness space that offers customized routines for a unique and diverse clientele. It’s a passion that he pursued vigorously. With the support of his wife, Yolande, the idea grew from strength to strength until it became a reality.
The name Enkore references the owners’ desire to instill a sense of sustainable greatness in anyone who comes through their doors. When fitness becomes an innate part of their client’s daily routine, then it becomes something they continue to repeat. An ‘encore’ performance if I may. The intimate space is filled with inspirational words to keep everyone focused on their objectives and goals.
As Jerico says, ‘its personal training,’ there are only so many ways you can make that exciting. But, with the right mind set, discipline and focus; it is possible. Everything this team does is meant to inspire focus and discipline as the foundations to achieving greatness. And, they do this all while working with you instead of talking at you.
They offered the 2BKaribbean team some free tips to kick start our individual fitness journeys including:
- Don’t base your today on what you did yesterday.
- Be patient.
- Start with small goals first.
- Start Slow.
- Start at Home.
This business team’s altruism extends beyond free advice within the four walls of their fitness center and goes to the community at large. They encourage other small businesses to find avenues to corporate with Caribbean business, find ways to give back to the community. Some of their company’s initiatives include work with special needs children and a toy drive with established Carnival band-Sesame Atlanta. In the words of Yolande, ‘Where you come from; you give back.’ Wise words indeed.
